The Walking Dead, seizoen 6 and beyond

dinsdag 11 augustus 2015 om 12:32
Welkom in het nieuwste topic over The Walking Dead.

Let's take a look at the different instances of spaghetti and pasta on the Walking Dead:
First off, we have Herschel's desire to have Spaghetti Tuesdays on Wednesday. Herschel sees spaghetti as something to aspire to, and was easily the moral center of the group during that period of the show. Herschel is indeed killed at the hands of the Governer, but there is an exemption to the spaghetti rule I'll get to in a second.
Later on, we see the Governer/"Brian" reject a plate of Spaghetti-o's. This is our first clue that his potential redemption hinted at during that arc will not come to fruition. Furthermore, the Governer's rejection of spaghetti is what allows him to kill Herschel. Herschel embraced spaghetti and would have never been killed by someone who also embraced spaghetti, but the Governer tossing the Spaghetti-o's out of the window was such blasphemy against spaghetti that it gave him the power to become the Anti-Spaghetti, a being so evil as to have the power to slay a follower of spaghetti.
A while later, Abraham finds several cans of Spaghetti-based foodstuff and fondly reminisces about the time Rex ate 10 cans of it. We never see Rex, but the fondness with which Abraham recalls the story implies that Rex was good and that Abraham embraces spaghetti. So far, Abraham has become a good, respected leader in Alexandria, so the Spaghetti brings him good fortune.
The next time we hear of a Pasta product is when the guy at the party mentions Ms. Neidermeyer wants a pasta maker. We don't meet Ms. Neidermeyer, but the guy talking about her seems dismissive of the idea, and comes across as a bit douchey. He's probably not such a good person.
Later, Aron and his boyfriend invite Daryl over for some "serious spaghetti". Daryl is initially hesitant, but he embraces the Spaghetti and a brilliant friendship/team takes form. Spaghetti is ultimately how Daryl finds his place in Alexandria.
Two critical Pasta moments happened in the past two episodes. First, Carol brings Pasta to Deanne. Deanne rejects the pasta and her husband is killed not long after. The husband, of course, is killed by Pete, who became a crazy murder guy shortly after shunning a similar pasta dish that Carol brought him. Deanne is still alive and has had a change of mind about things now that her husband was murdered, so time will tell if she will eventually embrace pasta, or if her continued rejection of pasta will be her undoing.
