My experience with English people is that you have people who are actually interested in what happens outside of Britain (who know that the Netherlands is the same as Holland) and then you have the not so bright people who don't give a thing about it. My boyfriends friends also had no idea where the Netherlands is but with all do respect, the only thing they care about is football and beer haha.
I think our country is just not so interesting for foreign people.

I think our country is just not so interesting for foreign people.Sorry, or should the last sentence be: "I think our country is just not that interesting to foreign people."?

Hi Nuo, you are very very welcome here.
Sugar? Milk or lemon?
Some milk please!

Start talking about drugs and the red light district, then they know very well where (the country) Amsterdam is
Talking about drugs indeed. And when you say you've never smoked weed, they (well..some of them at least) automatically assume you've done worse in stead.
Sleep tight everyone. I am off to bed.

@lamaatje its English instead of Englisch.
Im so jealous of everyone who lives in Britain! I would love to live there some day. Unfortunately I get homesick easily, so I'm afraid that won't work out well. I have "lived" in Belfast for three months though.
I'm completely Dutch by the way but I teach English at a secondary school.
Keep me in the picture, (is this the right way to say this? )
Just starting and I already made two mistakes. You tell me when my spelling is wrong.

I miss the Yorkie accent
By the way, I'm going out for dinner with a native speaker this week and he told me he had booked a different restaurant because the place where we were supposed to go is not, I quote, "inspirational".
What the hell does that mean?
It's probably the English way of saying that the place sucks and is bloody boring.
I'd kill a cat for a good old English breakfast. Mmmm with a bit of garlic on the tomatoes. A scone with clothed cream for desert. But I'm in Holland now so I'll have a sandwich with peanut butter and a glass of fresh orange juice instead.
Have a lovely day my love
