I'm still not convinced. You can use the present continuous for a fact - the way I learned it is that you have to use present simple when something is always true or a regularity. The earth revolves around the sun > fact that's always true. The train leaves at 8 > regular schedule.
However, it is not always and unchangably true that someone lives in Sweden. You can move. You could be staying there temporarily.
Besides, when I run and I say 'I'm running', that is a fact as well. As far as I know, there is no rule that states you have to use the present simple for facts.

koekkie, I liked Barcelona as well. Do you speak Spanish? I think I would be really nervous travelling alone to a country of which (?) I don't speak the language.

I think I am idealizing Sweden very much thanks to Astrid Lindgren's books. When I think of Sweden I see those cute coloured wooden houses, great needle forrests, meadows, cabins. And lovely interiors with lots of light and wood.
During primary school we celebrated Santa Lucia one year, and we learned two Swedish songs. I still remember them, but I have no clue what they mean.

I guess it depends on how long someone lives in a certain place.
And I find the use of the word 'fact' confusing. I think they mean universally known, scientifically proven facts. Not the more context-dependent facts of personal life. So in case of live/living, it is about duration, not factuality.

Very funny to read all your English posts. I live in holland, but my neighbor can speak Dutch but we normally communicate in English, just because it is more easy for her!
I used to speak English much more often when I worked for an international company but since September last year I switched jobs and it is an all Dutch company now!

What do you think about the hospitals in the UK? I have given birth to two children in the UK and the care/support has been excellent. My local surgery is very good. I have a NHS dentist down the road and they are great. I have had braces fitted in the UK about 15 years ago, again a very good experience. Personally I don't miss NL at all and I would never consider living in NL again as it is so crowed and people think it is normal to express their opinions very loudlly at all times. I am not impressed with the education system.
It seems to be necessary to have some "event" at least weekly to make education more "fun" eg Sinterklaas, Kerst, Schaatsen, Lenteweek, Halloween, Juffendag, Boekenweek, Paashaasdag, Oranjeweek, Koningspelen, Schoolreisjes etc, etc.
Whenever I visit NL it is interesting to observe children's behaviour, usually it is not great.

Oh, what a great topic!
I am really bad at languages. I studied English, German, French and Latin, but I'm not really talented...
At this moment I try to educate my Latino boyfriend (who speaks Guarani, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish) and he helps me with studying Spanish.
Sometimes I am making sentences with English, Spanish and Dutch words combined, because my brains are so confused with all the languages.
I want to improve my English and also study Spanish. Please correct all my grammar and misspelling.
Ps; what do you girls think of the Dutch translation of the pipeline> pijplijn. I hate it!

Off for 10 days. We booked last minute weekend away hope the wheather stays good .
Also I read somewhere( not sure who it was ) you become more British after having children here or they are growing up here in the UK. That bit is very true
