For Dutchies who live in England or in any other English speaking country and for people who just like to speak the language.

All welcome.

There's tea and biscuits. Fish and chips, scones and pasties.

So far there are no native speakers, so mistakes will happen.

More than often in my case

Enjoy!

That is horrible

I mean, did those people every study a map or a globe or watch the news?

Although, England is very self centered. We hardly ever see any news from NL.

The difference between Holland and The Netherlands

My experience with English people is that you have people who are actually interested in what happens outside of Britain (who know that the Netherlands is the same as Holland) and then you have the not so bright people who don't give a thing about it. My boyfriends friends also had no idea where the Netherlands is but with all do respect, the only thing they care about is football and beer haha.

I think our country is just not so interesting for foreign people.

@scamp haha no unless it's about zwarte Piet or the Dutch athletes winning a lot of Olympic medals!

Start talking about drugs and the red light district, then they know very well where (the country) Amsterdam is

Or when someone complains about The Efteling, that monsieur canibale is racist

Anyway, time for bed.

I will ''see'' you all tomorrow.

Hi Nuo, you are very very welcome here.

Sugar? Milk or lemon?

Some milk please!

Talking about drugs indeed. And when you say you've never smoked weed, they (well..some of them at least) automatically assume you've done worse in stead.

Sleep tight everyone. I am off to bed.

Sorry, or should the last sentence be: "I think our country is just not that interesting to foreign people."?Yeah you are right. My English tends to get sloppy when I'm tired.

@lamaatje its English instead of Englisch.

Im so jealous of everyone who lives in Britain! I would love to live there some day. Unfortunately I get homesick easily, so I'm afraid that won't work out well. I have "lived" in Belfast for three months though.

I'm completely Dutch by the way but I teach English at a secondary school.

Keep me in the picture, (is this the right way to say this? )

Just starting and I already made two mistakes. You tell me when my spelling is wrong.

I would say; keep an eye on me, Lama. But for sure our English teacher has the best answer to your question.
Goodmorning everybody!

Did you all have a good night? My oneyear old kept me up for the bigger part of the night.

Well I'm almost off to work. Have a lovely day loves!
Good morning! Can I join in? I currently live in Finland, but I'll be moving to the UK in a couple of months. (Another impulsive move.. Keeps life interesting ;) )

I miss the Yorkie accent

By the way, I'm going out for dinner with a native speaker this week and he told me he had booked a different restaurant because the place where we were supposed to go is not, I quote, "inspirational".

What the hell does that mean?

It's probably the English way of saying that the place sucks and is bloody boring.

I'd kill a cat for a good old English breakfast. Mmmm with a bit of garlic on the tomatoes. A scone with clothed cream for desert. But I'm in Holland now so I'll have a sandwich with peanut butter and a glass of fresh orange juice instead.

Have a lovely day my love :-)
Good morning! Did you sleep well?
