Hi Elfje,
Wow, that must be confusing. Speaking English with your husband in a non English/Dutch speaking country.
Hah that's nothing. I'm pregnant of our first child who will have a mom who speaks Dutch, a dad who speaks his language, who speak English together, and if he will go to the crèche or a babysitter they will speak the countries language to him
I'm sure he will be a it slow to start speaking at first, but eventually he will have so many benefits of it.

@lamaatje its English instead of Englisch.
Im so jealous of everyone who lives in Britain! I would love to live there some day. Unfortunately I get homesick easily, so I'm afraid that won't work out well. I have "lived" in Belfast for three months though.
I'm completely Dutch by the way but I teach English at a secondary school.

I thought this would be a thread on Dutch people speaking English like this: "You are coming in the neighbourhood, but I have you in the holes."
But, to fall with the door in the house, you are all excellent writers. Even though I can't help imagining heavy Dutch accents when I read your posts

I miss the Yorkie accent
By the way, I'm going out for dinner with a native speaker this week and he told me he had booked a different restaurant because the place where we were supposed to go is not, I quote, "inspirational".
What the hell does that mean?
