Waarom krijgen deze vrouwen een podium om hun racistische uitlatingen tentoon te spreiden? Wat als ik , een blanke vrouw, een boek zou schrijven met als titel "Hallo zwarte mensen". Wat als ik als blanke vrouw keer op keer op tv zou klagen dat alle zwarten racistisch zijn en dat het echt vreselijk leven hier is, ondanks dat er genoeg mensen zijn die naar deze twee dames luisteren, een sprookjesfiguur aanpassen in de hoop dat het nu minder kwetsend is, ieder jaar Keti Koti en andere festivals toestaan, op scholen de slavernij onderwijzen etc. etc.
Iemand als Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, dat waren pas helden, die streden voor gelijkheid in een zeer ongelijk land. Dat is Nederland gewoon niet.

Ik vind het typisch een voorbeeld van white privilege; Beg-packers

Running out of money abroad isn’t a crime, but the expectation that other people will pay for their ~adventure~ to continue is nothing short of ridiculous. Selling things in the street or begging isn’t considered respectable. People who do so are really in need: they beg in order to buy food, pay their children’s school fees or pay off debts. But not in order to do something seen as a luxury!
A DSLR camera costs on average between £400 and £800. An amplifier costs on average between £35 and £200. Even red Converse, the shoes Obnoxious Tourist With Harmonica is wearing in picture two, cost like, £40.
These people aren’t poor, they’re not starving, they’re not desperate. They’re deluded."
Unfortunately, there is still discrimination and racism directed at people who aren't white, while white people are worshipped. It’s a colonial legacy. These begging tourists would have been treated completely differently if they weren’t white — proof lies in the way we treat non-white migrants here.

Mijn reactie is off topic maar ik heb wel het idee dat veel mensen alleen wat komen halen ja.
Je moet toch minimaal 1 ervaring hebben met een local die jou een uit eigen mond gespaarde maaltijd/gratis overnachting geeft, of met jou een hele dag doorbrengt om je auto te repareren en dat nog voor je betaalt ook, of zoiets.
Dat jij dat waard bent, anders bent dan de gewone toerist.
Gewoon overal voor betalen is niet echt de bedoeling lijkt.

Ik woon in een van de armste landen ter wereld, en ik denk dat als er hier een begpacker in actie komt, de bevolking ze keihard uitlacht en selfies met ze maakt. Ik geloof niet dat het woede op zou roepen. De enige soort toerist die ze minachten, zijn de pedofielen in de kustplaatsen. Die worden op een pak slaag getrakteerd. Terecht.

Ik ben het niet helemaal met je eens, als je het in Sommige delen van India of in een dorp buiten Jakarta doet vind ik het ook schandalig.
Maar neem nu Hong Kong of Singapore, dan denk ik:
Je bent jong, Je houdt van avontuur, wil je met te weinig geld op vakantie en houd je van dit soort spanning.

In Singapore is het verboden. Wie weet door privilege zijn er nog maar weinig westerse toeristen daadwerkelijk beboet daar.
Deze man is wel bekend om zijn bedelen in Azie, en geeft het uit aan drank en prostitutie zegt hij. Hij gaat liggen op de grond en met zijn been krijgt hij veel sympathie en kan zo duizend euro ophalen voor verder uitgeven. Hij komt uit Duitsland.
