Ja, nog een parfum topic!
Die hebberigheid in de parfumerie ken ik maar al te goed, Yoie : )
Micksel, ik ben een van de trotse bezitters van Black Orchid : ) (samen met Moeki uit het andere topic) en die van mij komt van Schiphol...
Dalida, wat leuk voor je dat je misschien naar New York gaat dit jaar! Ik krijg zelf meteen ook zin, vooral in Saks, mijn favoriete warenhuis daar...
Ik ben ook heel benieuwd naar die nieuwe speciale lijn van Guerlain, vooral naar Cruel Gardenia en Iris Ganache, maar ook Cuir Beluga lijkt me lekker.
Je bent in ieder geval goed op de hoogte van alle nieuwe geuren, lijkt me zo : )

Hé dames, maar dit is het enige echte eerste parfumtopic hoor ! Was altijd heel actief, maar toen Viva overging op een vernieuwd forum was het opeens een paar maanden kwijt. Gelukkig zijn er een paar trouwe, enthousiaste parfumliefhebbers die altijd wel wat te schrijven hebben, dus we zijn niet klein te krijgen !

Estee Lauder will launch Sensuous, a new woody amber fragrance for women, this coming July. Karyn Khoury, Estee Lauder's senior vice president of corporate fragrance development, noted:
We wanted to reinvent woods for women — the concept was to create a scent that evoked a molten river of woods. We felt that we had a real opportunity to broaden our reach with this fragrance.

Estee Lauder launched Azuree Soleil in 2006 as a limited edition body oil. It was part of the "Tom Ford Estee Lauder Collection" or somesuch, and the body oil returned in the summer of 2007, along with a new Azuree Soleil Eau Fraiche Skinscent formula. As I understand it, now that Tom Ford's own brand (under the Estee Lauder umbrella) is off and running, we won't be seeing any more joint Tom Ford-Estee Lauder products, so Azuree Soleil is kaput (as is Youth Dew Amber Nude).
Fans of Azuree Soleil needn't worry; Estee Lauder's new Bronze Goddess is very nearly the same thing, in fact, only the fragrance-obsessed will notice (or care about) the difference. They're both tropical beach-y scents, and the Azuree Soleil I thought of as not exactly suntan oil-ish, but as what suntan oil ought to smell.

Thierry Mugler Alien Eau Luminescente ~ new perfume
Thierry Mugler has launched Alien Eau Luminescente, a new limited edition flanker to 2005's Alien fragrance. The original Alien was inspired by amethyst, Alien Eau Luminescente was inspired by topaz.
Alien Eau Luminescente is described as a "fresh, floral amber scent". It was developed by perfumer Dominique Ropion.

Bvlgari Pour Femme ~ perfume review
It was interesting to read the various opinions on Bvlgari as a fragrance house in the comments to Kevin's article about their Aqva line for men. I think of Bvlgari as one of the better mainstream brands. No, the fragrances aren't all wildly innovative, but to my nose, they're all (ok, mostly) so nicely done. A perfect example: Bvlgari Pour Femme.
Bvlgari launched Pour Femme in 1994. It was the line's second fragrance, following Eau Parfumee au Thé Vert, and it was originally known just as "Bvlgari". They introduced it slowly in the United States, restricting it initially to about 40 stores, and I can't resist quoting this oh-if-you-only-knew statement from a Chanel representative (a Chanel subsidiary was in charge of the US distribution):

Black Orchid is ook echt super, Micksel. Volgens mij is hij er ook maar nét op schiphol, want toen mijn moeder hem daar voor me kocht moest ze er ook écht om vragen en ze moesten daar ook echt naar de prijs ervan gaan zoeken enzo, want ze wisten er ook nog niet hoeveel die moest kosten. Blijkbaar kenden de verkopers hem zelf dus ook nog niet.

Zoefie: ik heb Antiona's Flowers geroken (Tiempe Passate)!
Wauw....wat een goede geur zeg! Ik heb ook geroken: Juliette has a Gun...ook erg, erg apart. Wat een leuke parfumerie is dat, Skins! Echt van die geuren die je nergens zal tegenkomen.
Ga jij Antiona's kopen? Vlgs mij is ie wel erg duur! Maarja....dan heb je wat! Ik heb er een proefje van meegekregen,lekker hoor!Ook van J. has a Gun...dus dan wordt heerlijk uitproberen, hahaah!
Ik heb ook wel 's proefjes gehad van Annick Goutal maar dat is toch niet 'mijn ding' zal ik maar zeggen.

Taylor, een vriendin van mij had precies hetzelfde bij Tiempe Passate. Rook bij haar wel aardig, maar niet bijzonder en het was ook zo weg. Bij mij blijft het juist goed hangen (ik had een proefje) en ruikt superlekker. Maar ja, dat heb je wel eens bij parfums... Die Juliette etc. ga ik ook nog wel even ruiken. Pi heb ik inderdaad ook uitgeprobeerd, maar dat was het niet. Maar er was wel een nieuwe editie van Chanel Allure pour Homme (edition blanche) en die was érg lekker !

Zoefie, die 2 Guerlains die ik noemde heb ik beide in Nederland gekocht. Guet-Apens was in 1999 een limited edition en is sinds 2005 weer beperkt te koop als Attrape-Coeur.
Liu was plots verdwenen maar ook sinds enkele jaren weer te krijgen in NY.
Micksel, Black Orchid staat volgens mij te koop op eBay.nl.
Vivenda, Saks ken ik nog niet, ik zet hem op mijn nog-te-zien-lijstje!
Ik ben nu 2 keer in NY geweest, beide keren een weekje en het is gewoon steeds veel te kort!

Ja, het is zeker zo dat dit topic al lang bestaat. Het is alleen jammer dat de vorige topics allemaal verdwenen zijn! Het zou zo leuk zijn om nog terug te kunnen lezen!

21 Costume National ~ perfume review
21 is the latest fragrance from Costume National. It is said to have 21 notes — bergamot, milk, orange blossoms, saffron, cumin, pepper, cashmere wood, royal jelly, moss, clary sage, patchouli, olibanum, amber, sandalwood, oudh wood, cedar, vetiver, labdanum, tonka bean, vanilla and musk — and is meant to honor the brand's 21st anniversary.
In some ways, 21 Costume National makes a perfect follow-up to Friday's post about fragrance notes; the "21 notes" is a nice conceit, no? Perhaps someone can make out all 21, and no more, but I'm not that someone. It starts off with a spicy citrus buzz, then the orange blossom shines for a time before it slowly evolves into a creamy-milky rice pudding, subtly spiced and mildly vanillic, over dark woods and a dash of incense. The base is rich and earthy, and it wears like a fall-winter-spring comfort scent, at least, for those of you who find creamy woods comforting. It isn't heavy, exactly, but nor is it as sheer as some of Costume National's previous fragrances. It wears rather close to the skin in the later stages, though.
I love creamy woods fragrances, and 21 Costume National is perfect. For days now I've been going crazy trying to think of what it reminds me of — and it does remind me strongly of something or another — but I can't think of what it might be. If you can help, do comment. In some ways, it could function as the extreme version of Kenzo Amour (what I was hoping Amour Indian Holi might turn out to be, but didn't), and it also fits in nicely with my other spicy wood pudding favorites: Tan Guidicelli Annam, Sonoma Scent Studio Bois Epices, Givenchy Organza Indecence, and so on. It has more of a quirky streak than anything in that list, though. I want a bottle.

Jil Sander Scent 79 ~ new fragrances
Jil Sander has launched a new duo of fragrances, Scent 79 Woman and Scent 79 Man. The scents are modern interpretations of the original Jil Sander fragrances, Jil Sander Pure Woman, launched in 1979, and Jil Sander Pure Man, which followed in 1981. Like their earlier counterparts, the new fragrances celebrate Sander's elegant minimalist style.
Jil Sander Scent 79 Woman (shown) was developed by perfumer Evelyne Boulanger. The amber floral chypre fragrance includes notes of cranberry, peach leaves, May rose, jasmine, iris, soft leather, caramelized wood, musk and vetiver.
Jil Sander Scent 79 Man was developed by perfumer Marc Buxton, and retains the pure, simple modernity of Jil Sander Pure Man. The notes include angelica, clary sage, frankincense, jasmine, violet, orris, black leather, sandalwood and vetiver.

Kenzo Amour Indian Holi ~
Amour Indian Holi is Kenzo's new limited edition flanker for 2006's Kenzo Amour fragrance. It's named for the Indian Festival of Colors, and the original Amour juice has been reworked by perfumers Daphne Bugey and Olivier Cresp. Additions to the mix include rose, peony, and, wait for it......yep, pink pepper, the note du jour.
I liked the original Amour very much when I tried it in 2006, and I still do. I've been flirting with the idea of buying it and I may do so yet; wearing it today reminds me of what a perfect comfort scent it is for cool weather. Many people complain that it is too bland, but I find the vanilla-rice-pudding-blandness part of its charm, and the dark woods and incense in the base keep it from being dull (the original notes were cherry blossom, rice steam, white tea, frangipani, heliotrope, thanaka wood, incense, vanilla and musk).
I rather thought they'd do something more exotic with Amour Indian Holi. As much as I like Amour, it doesn't quite evoke the "couple's voyage through India, Japan and Vietnam" that it was meant to, and if it'd been up to me — and it never is, is it? — I'd have amped up the incense and thanaka wood and added a goodly dash of some spice or another.
Kenzo has gone in the opposite direction. You'll recognize strains of the original Amour in Amour Indian Holi, but the top notes are sweeter and fruitier, the woods and incense in the base are milder, and the peony-rose-pink pepper medley, while sheer, gives Indian Holi a more generic-mainstream-department-store-fragrance feel. It smells like it's been "pinked up".

Dalida, Saks Fifth Avenue kun je vinden op... 5th Avenue. En als ik het me goed kan herinneren, zit Bergdorf Goodman daar ook. Niet te missen dus : ) En je hebt gelijk, een week is ook écht te kort, vooral met de jetlag!
